EN47
EN47 is a chromium vanadium spring steel known for its high tensile strength, good toughness, and excellent fatigue resistance. It is commonly used in the manufacture of suspension springs, coil springs, and other automotive and engineering components subjected to dynamic loading.
EN47 steel has fair machinability in the annealed or normalized condition but becomes more difficult to machine after hardening and tempering. It has poor weldability due to its high carbon and alloy content. Preheating and post-weld heat treatment may be required to reduce the risk of cracking.
